| Bio DJ Erik Thoresen Erik Thoresen’s love for music started at an early age, with a handed down, half size acoustic guitar, and a toy record player. After high school, Erik went to Texas to study jazz guitar at the University of North Texas, completing with a degree of Bachelor of Applied Arts in Music. With exposure to the electronic music scene in college, Erik began to build a studio, with an emphasis in dance music production. Many samplers, synthesizers and drum machines later, his passion for producing and remixing would lead him to live DJ sets. The first song released was on Chinese Records (run by Art Pinratana) as HEFTY LEFTY - “Lil Something Spooky” on their compilation titled “Shaolin Tech vol. 1 & 2 ” (2001). Other well known artists on this compilation included DJ Red Eye, Demarkus Lewis, and Disco Agents. The name Hefty Lefty came from a line shouted from the audience during the Rocky Horror Picture Show. The track was originally named “Lil Something Special”, until Art renamed it (on the day of delivery), to describe the sinister string sounds. After a brief visit to Miami Beach, Florida, Erik moved back to Dallas in 2002 and started to DJ. This has led Erik to play many styles including Mainstream Club, Hip Hop, R&B, Deep House, Trance, and Tribal. Now in 2005, current residencies are Saturday nights at Station 4, Wednesday nights at Rose Room (in Station 4) and Thursday nights at Throckmorton Mining Company. In 2005, The remix team of DJ Blaine Meets Hefty Lefty have been getting their work released. Blaine Soileau and Erik Thoresen have created remixes for Jacinta, Pepper Mashay, and Raw Deal feat Reed McGowan. Check out the studio page for more information. |
